What happened
On May 16, 2017, at approximately 0530 UTC, an Ayres S2R, registered as F-GIEN, was involved in an accident near Candillargues, France. The aircraft had departed from the Montpellier-Candillargues Airport (LFNG) for a local flight.
During the flight, the aircraft suffered a loss of engine power. This necessitated a forced landing, which resulted in substantial damage to the airplane. The pilot was not injured.
