What happened
During an operation at the old Sokoto Airport, the crew of an aircraft performed a landing following inadequate preparations regarding the flight and approach plan. Shortly after the wheels touched the runway, the flight crew identified that the landing location was incorrect. In an effort to rectify the situation, the pilots attempted to accelerate for a takeoff roll.
However, the crew soon identified a critical hazard: high-tension power lines were positioned at the far end of the runway. To avoid these obstacles, the pilots initiated an emergency braking maneuver. Despite these efforts, the aircraft could not stop before the end of the paved surface. The aircraft overran the runway, causing the undercarriage to separate from the airframe. The plane slid for several dozen meters before coming to a complete stop.
