What happened
During the landing phase of the flight, the crew performed an approach with an incorrect configuration. Upon touchdown on a wet runway surface, the aircraft failed to decelerate sufficiently within the available runway length. This resulted in the plane overrunning the end of the pavement and coming to a stop in a nearby ditch.
As a result of the excursion, there were eight injuries recorded among the occupants. The impact and subsequent movement into the ditch caused significant damage to the airframe, rendering the aircraft a total loss.
Findings
- The primary factor contributing to the accident was an incorrect approach configuration by the crew.
- The presence of a wet runway surface reduced the available braking effectiveness during the landing roll.
