On June 27, 2018, an Antonov An-2, registration RA-62524, was operating under a contract for the Irkutsk Region Forestry to provide aerial reconnaissance and support for forest fire services. The crew, which included a captain, a second pilot, and an aviation technician, was executing a planned flight route through several settlements in the Nizhneudinsky District.
During the flight, the aircraft experienced a loss of power in its engine. In response to the power loss, the crew selected an airfield from the air to perform a forced landing. The landing site was located approximately 4.9 km southeast of the settlement of Nizhneudinsk.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft RA-62524 underwent a complete nose-over. The landing site was identified as a swampy meadow. There were no injuries or fatalities reported following the accident.
