On December 19, 2017, a TVS-2MS, registration RA-01460, was scheduled to perform a regular flight from Nar'yan-Mar to Haruta and back. While the original flight plan had specified an An-2 aircraft, air traffic control substituted the aircraft with the TVS-2MS RA-01460 on the day of departure and updated the route accordingly.
The crew, consisting of a captain and a captain-instructor acting as the second pilot, began pre-flight preparations at 05:00. The aircraft was equipped with ski landing gear, and no technical issues were noted during the maintenance inspection. Following a weather briefing and receiving airspace clearance, the crew informed air traffic control of their intention to depart.
At 07:26, the aircraft took off from runway 21. During the initial climb phase, the aircraft experienced a sharp increase in pitch angle accompanied by a loss of airspeed. This was followed by a right roll and a loss of altitude.
After the aircraft turned approximately 270 degrees from its takeoff heading, it collided with a snow-covered surface. The accident resulted in four fatalities.
