Summary
On 26 July 2017 at 20:42 local time, a TL-2000 STING S4 aircraft, registration OK-SUA 37, operated by a private owner, crashed at Terpsithea airfield (ΠΕΔΙΟ ΠΡΟΣΓΕΙΩΣΗΣ ΤΕΡΨΙΘΕΑΣ) in Larissa, Greece. The flight was a recreational flight with two persons on board. The aircraft was destroyed and both occupants sustained fatal injuries.
Sequence of Events
Prior to the flight, at 20:10:07, Pilot A contacted the Larissa tower to activate the airfield. At 20:10:42, Pilot B filed a flight plan. At 20:25:25, Pilot B reported takeoff and filed a new flight plan. The flight proceeded to Tyrnavos at 500 ft, then to Koutsochero at 500 ft. At 20:39:10, Pilot B reported approaching Terpsithea and intended to perform touch and go maneuvers. The last GPS record was at 20:42:35, showing the aircraft at coordinates 39°39'37.58"N 22°20'19.50"E, altitude 399 ft MSL, indicated speed 66 kt, and descent rate 623 fpm. At 20:42:55, the tower received noise and unintelligible speech. The aircraft impacted the ground at coordinates 39°39'36.4"N 22°20'20.3"E, altitude 243 ft, 282 m from the threshold of runway 17.
Damage and Fatalities
The aircraft was destroyed in the crash. Both persons on board sustained fatal injuries.
