Departure and Delay
The aircrew planned to depart at 1600 EST, but the flight was delayed until 1700 due to general aviation reservation restrictions.
Takeoff and Initial Problems
During the subsequent takeoff, the pilot reported that the takeoff proceeded normally until just before rotation at 85 to 90 knots. At that point, freezing rain began to obscure the windshield visibility.
When the aircraft lifted off, it began to roll left. The pilot applied rudder and aileron to correct the roll, at which time the airspeed dissipated and the aircraft settled back onto the runway.
Second Attempt and Runway Excursion
The pilot reported initiating rotation again at 90 knots, and the aircraft again rolled left. During this event, the left main gear struck a frozen snow plow rut and separated when the aircraft touched down beside the runway.
