What happened
The flight instructor (CFI) elected to demonstrate a short field landing and landed the aircraft with the stall warning system on. He reported that after touchdown, he tried to slow the aircraft with the brakes, but it would not slow down. The CFI then elected to go around, but had insufficient airspeed. Subsequently, the aircraft went off the end of the runway and came to rest upside down in water.
