What happened
The pilot-in-command initiated a low pass over the airstrip, flying from south to north. Upon reaching the departure end of the runway, the pilot began a right-hand turn at an altitude between 50 and 75 feet above ground level. As the bank angle increased to between 30 and 40 degrees, the pilot lost control of the airplane.
The investigation
A post-accident inspection of the aircraft revealed no mechanical discrepancies or malfunctions that would have precluded normal operation. The pilot-in-command reported that the wind was from 360 degrees at 5 knots at the time of the incident.
