Incident Summary
While cruising at 9,000 ft approximately 8 miles north of TICO Airport, the pilot experienced a loss of fuel pressure in the left engine. The pilot attempted to restart the engine and locate the airport, but was unable to reach the runway. The aircraft touched down about 150 ft short of the runway and collided with a fence.
Post-Crash Examination
Following the accident, examination of the aircraft revealed that the left fuel selector was in the OFF position. During post-accident tests, the left engine was run at 1,500 RPM for about 2 minutes. Fuel flow, manifold pressure, and tachometer functioned normally, and no other discrepancies were noted.
