Accident Summary
A pilot experienced a sudden loss of all engine power while climbing under clear sky conditions. The event occurred after the pilot leaned the engine's mixture at 6,500 feet above mean sea level. Despite the pilot's efforts, the engine could not be restarted, leading to a forced landing. During the landing rollout, the airplane collided with a berm.
Pilot's Report
The pilot reported that the sky was clear at the time of the climb. After reaching 6,500 feet MSL, the pilot leaned the mixture. Immediately, all engine power ceased. The pilot stated familiarity with carburetor ice but noted that the power loss was not characteristic of such icing. All attempts to restart the engine were unsuccessful.
Post-Impact Examination
A post-impact examination of the airframe and engine was conducted. The inspection produced no evidence of a mechanical reason that could account for the sudden stoppage of the engine. No anomalies or failures were identified.
