What happened
On 26 July 1993, Asiana Airlines Flight 733 was conducting a domestic service from Seoul-Gimpo International Airport to Mokpo Airport. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-500, was traveling within South Korea when it crashed in the Hwawon area of Haenam County, located in South Jeolla Province.
The accident resulted in the deaths of 68 people out of the 116 passengers and crew members on board. The crash of this specific aircraft marked the first recorded hull loss for the Boeing 737-500 model.
Investigation
Following the crash, investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the flight's descent and approach. The inquiry focused on the flight path and the actions of the flight crew during the final stages of the flight.
