What happened
On 20 November 1993, Avioimlampex Flight 110 was conducting a scheduled international service from Geneva to Skopje. Due to severe blizzard conditions at Skopje International Airport, the flight crew diverted the aircraft to Ohrid Airport.
The aircraft, a Yakovlev Yak-42, was transporting 108 passengers and eight crew members at the time of the accident. During the approach or flight near the diversion site, the plane crashed approximately 7 kilometres east of Ohrid Airport. The impact resulted in 116 fatalities, leaving no immediate survivors. Although one passenger survived the initial impact, they passed away eleven days later due to their injuries.
