Accident Details
On August 21, 1995, Atlantic Southeast Airlines Flight 529, an Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia, crashed in the community of Burwell between the cities of Bowdon and Carrollton, Georgia. The flight was en route from Atlanta, Georgia, to Gulfport, Mississippi. There were 29 people on board.
Casualties and Similar Incident
The accident resulted in 9 fatalities. The incident bore similarities to Atlantic Southeast Airlines Flight 2311, which had occurred four years earlier and resulted in the deaths of all 23 people on board.
Investigation Findings
The inquiries into both crashes concluded that design flaws in the aircraft's propellers were to blame.
