An aircraft crashed into the ocean following the opening of a forward baggage door during a VFR maintenance test flight.

What happened

The aircraft was conducting a VFR maintenance test flight when the accident occurred. Shortly after takeoff, at an altitude of approximately 200 feet MSL, witnesses observed that the forward baggage door had opened. In response to the door opening, the pilot reduced power and began maneuvering the aircraft. During this sequence, the aircraft entered a stall, banked to the left, and dove into the ocean. One witness reported hearing an increase in engine power immediately before the aircraft impacted the water.
