Accident
On 3 April 1996, a United States Air Force Boeing CT-43A crashed while on approach to Dubrovnik, Croatia. The aircraft was operating as part of an official trade mission. It was attempting an instrument approach to Dubrovnik Airport when it struck a mountainside.
Aircraft
The aircraft was a Boeing 737-200 originally built as a T-43A navigational trainer. It had been subsequently converted into a CT-43A executive transport aircraft.
Occupants and Casualties
The aircraft was carrying United States Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown and 34 other people, including corporate CEOs. All aboard died in the crash except for one initial sole survivor, Shelly Kelly, who died en route to a hospital.
Investigation
The official investigation into the accident did not state a probable cause.
