Accident
On 20 April 1998, Air France Flight 422 crashed shortly after departing from Bogotá's El Dorado International Airport. The aircraft, a Boeing 727, was on a scheduled flight from Bogotá, Colombia, to Quito, Ecuador, operating the final leg of a route originating in Paris. It struck the Eastern Hills of Bogotá in conditions of foggy weather and low visibility. The impact destroyed the aircraft and all 53 persons on board were killed.
