Aircraft Crash Following Observed Stall and Loss of Altitude

Casualties unknown • Tallahassee, FL, US

An aircraft crashed following an apparent stall during its initial climb, resulting in a post-impact fire that heavily damaged the fuselage.

What happened

During the initial climb phase, the pilot of another aircraft taxiing for takeoff observed the unidentified aircraft in a 45-degree right bank with the nose pitched up approximately 30 degrees. The aircraft appeared to have entered a stall.

Simultaneously, the pilot transmitted a radio message stating that they were experiencing a problem and intended to return to the airport, though no specific details regarding the nature of the problem were provided. Following this transmission, the aircraft began a sudden loss of altitude. Just prior to impact with the ground, the aircraft was observed in a 20 to 30-degree right bank with a nose-down attitude of 50 to 60 degrees. A fireball was seen at the site of the crash.

The investigation

The subsequent examination of the engine and airframe assemblies was conducted to identify any contributing factors. This inspection failed to reveal any mechanical problems or component failures.
