What happened
On 25 July 2000, an Air France charter flight, designated as Flight 4590, departed from Paris bound for New York. Shortly after the Concorde aircraft began its takeoff roll, it experienced a catastrophic event that led to a crash. The accident resulted in the deaths of all 109 persons on the aircraft. Additionally, the wreckage or subsequent impact caused the deaths of 4 people on the ground.
Investigation
This incident stands as the only fatal accident involving the Concorde during its nearly three decades of service. The investigation focused on the sequence of events immediately following the takeoff roll and the impact with the surrounding area.
