Narrative
During the initial climb after a second takeoff, the airplane experienced a loss of engine power at an altitude of about 60 feet. The pilot reported, "The engine cut out, no power ... It struck a Consumers Power cable with the [right] wheel." Subsequently, the pilot landed the airplane in a field, brought it to a stop, shut it down, and walked home.
Damage
The airplane sustained substantial damage upon impact with a power line and terrain.
Engine Examination
The pilot reported that a compression ring was found broken and an exhaust valve was found elongated. These parts had accumulated 3,450 hours total time and 1,424.2 hours since the last overhaul.
