Disappearance and Search
On 25 June 2007, PMTair Flight 241, a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville, Cambodia, disappeared over the Cambodian jungle near Bokor Mountain in Kampot province. The aircraft was an Antonov An-24 registered as XU-U4A, operated by regional airliner PMTair. At the time of the disappearance, the flight was on approach to Sihanoukville.
A massive search and rescue operation was launched, involving thousands of soldiers and police scouring the area. The search efforts eventually located the wreckage in southwestern Cambodia, northeast of the Dâmrei Mountains.
Fatalities
All 22 people on board the aircraft were killed. The majority of the passengers were South Korean tourists. The accident remains the second deadliest air disaster in Cambodian history.
