Accident Overview
On 3 April 2008, at approximately 11:00 am ART, a Blue Wing Airlines Antonov An-28 registered as PZ-TSO crashed while landing at Lawa Antino Airport in Benzdorp, Suriname. The flight was carrying 17 passengers and a crew of 2, totaling 19 people on board. All occupants died in the crash.
Sequence of Events
Initial media reports indicated that the aircraft was forced to abort its initial landing attempt because the runway was occupied by another Blue Wing Airlines Antonov An-28. The pilot then initiated a go-around procedure. However, the airplane failed to gain sufficient altitude during the go-around and subsequently crashed into a mountain.
