Accident Overview
The pilot of an amphibious airplane was conducting multiple touch and go water landings on a lake. During the final landing, which was oriented to the south, the airplane touched down with the nose slightly to the right. The left sponson subsequently struck the water, causing the airplane to water loop. Several minutes later, the airplane sank to the bottom of the lake.
Damage
The accident resulted in substantial damage to both wings and the fuselage.

The pilot reported that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures of the airplane prior to the accident.
Weather Conditions
A weather observation taken near the time of the accident, at a location approximately 25 miles north of the accident site, recorded winds from 180 degrees true at 8 knots.
