What happened

On April 13, 2010, a Cathay Pacific Airways Airbus A330-342, registration B-HLL, was performing an approach to Hong Kong International Airport in Hong Kong, China. The flight had originated from Surabaya, Indonesia.

During the approach, the aircraft experienced a loss of thrust in both of its Rolls-Royce Trent 777-60 engines. According to the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, the aircraft landed at a speed of 230 knots. At the time of landing, the two engines were producing approximately 20% and 70% power, respectively, and the crew appeared to have no control over the engine power.

Despite the engine issues, the aircraft landed safely. There were no injuries reported.
