Accident Details
On April 13, 2010, a Boeing 737-300 operated by Merpati Airlines, registered as PK-MDE, overran runway 17 during landing at Rendani Airport in Manokwari, West Papua, Indonesia. Weather conditions at the time were reported as heavy rain. The aircraft sustained substantial damage, and there were 20 injuries among those on board.
Investigation
The Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) is conducting the investigation into the accident. In accordance with the provisions of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 13, the United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated a U.S. Accredited Representative to participate in the investigation, as the United States is the state of manufacture of the aircraft.
