What happened
On July 23, 2011, at approximately 1722 UTC, a Sikorsky S92/A helicopter, registration C-GQCH, was departing from the Sea Rose Platform, located roughly 200 nautical miles east of St. John's, Newfoundland.
Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft entered a nose-high attitude while operating at a low power setting. This resulted in a loss of altitude while the helicopter was flying in instrument meteorological conditions. The flight crew successfully arrested the descent and proceeded to St. John's.
There were seven people on board, including two pilots and five passengers. There were no injuries resulting from the incident.
