What happened
On October 12, 2011, at Kansai International Airport, a Boeing 767-300, registration N588HA, operated by Hawaiian Airlines Inc. (flight HAL450), was instructed by air traffic control to hold short of runway A. At approximately 21:37, the Hawaiian Airlines aircraft entered the runway.
At the same time, a second Boeing 767-300, registration JA8356, operated by All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (flight ANA8519), was on approach approximately 6.5km southeast of the airport. Although the All Nippon Airways aircraft had already received landing clearance, air traffic control instructed the crew to execute a go-around. There were no injuries and no damage to either aircraft.
