Accident
On 21 June 2012, a Fokker F27 military transport aircraft operated by the Indonesian Air Force crashed into a housing complex near Halim Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia. The aircraft was conducting a training flight at the time of the accident. According to officials, the crew had been performing a touch-and-go exercise before the crash. The aircraft was not equipped with flight data recorders. All seven occupants on board lost their lives, along with four people on the ground. An additional 11 individuals on the ground sustained injuries.
Aircraft
The aircraft was a Fokker F27, a twin-engine turboprop transport plane. It was manufactured in 1958 and had been in service with the Indonesian Air Force for several years prior to the accident. The Indonesian military (TNI) has stated that it is in the process of acquiring CN-295 aircraft to replace its aging fleet of Fokker F27s.
