What happened
On July 28, 2012, at approximately 1540 UTC, a Beech B200 Super King Air, registered OO-LET, was performing a local flight departing from Cambridge Airfield. The aircraft was operating as a communications relay for the London Olympics.
During the flight, the aircraft experienced a major electrical failure. This malfunction necessitated visual navigation to return to Cambridge. Due to the electrical issue, the pilot had to manually lower the landing gear. Upon touchdown on the runway, the landing gear collapsed, resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft. All four occupants—the pilot and three passengers—were not injured.
Visual meteorological conditions were present at the time of the accident.
