Landing and Nose Over
A pilot reported that after a half-hour flight, he landed his airplane on a snow-covered lake that he had used numerous times that winter. The landing felt normal, and he maintained the flare as the skis made contact. After touchdown, the airplane traveled on its skis for about 40 feet before nosing over.
Post-Accident Inspection
The pilot exited the airplane and walked along the ski tracks but found no objects that could have caused the accident. He stated that the temperature was approximately 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and described the snow as sticky. He indicated that the skis had passed over a soft spot before the nose over.
Mechanical Status
The pilot reported no mechanical malfunctions with the airplane in relation to the landing.
