Incident Overview
On February 15, 2015, at 1020 local time, a Bell 206 L4 helicopter, registered as P2-HFZ, suffered a loss of engine power while maneuvering with an external load. The aircraft subsequently executed a hard landing near Wabo, Papua New Guinea. The helicopter was operated by Helifax Operations Limited under the civil aviation regulations of Papua New Guinea.
Occupant and Damage
The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the helicopter, received minor injuries. The helicopter itself sustained substantial damage as a result of the hard landing.
Investigation
The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Papua New Guinea. The Papua New Guinea Accident Investigation Commission is responsible for the inquiry. No probable cause has been released in the initial information.
