During the landing sequence, a vibration was felt approximately 8 seconds after touchdown, which was followed by the collapse of the aircraft's right main landing gear. There were no injuries resulting from the event.

The investigation

The investigation was conducted by the Comisión de Investigación de Accidentes de Aviación (CIAA) of Peru, with the NTSB providing a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist under ICAO Annex 13. Examination of the aircraft revealed that the left main landing gear had a fractured torsion link and a broken shimmy damper actuator.
