Incident Notification
The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has formally notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of an incident involving a Cessna 208B aircraft that occurred on March 3, 2016. The notification was made in accordance with international protocols for aviation safety investigations.
International Cooperation
In response, the NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the GCAA in the investigation. This appointment is authorized under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13, which governs the conduct of aircraft accident and incident investigations. The U.S. representative's involvement stems from the fact that the United States is the state of design and manufacture of a special type certificate engine modification installed on the incident airplane.
Investigative Authority
All investigative information pertaining to this incident will be released exclusively by the GCAA. The scope and details of the investigation are under the purview of the Guyanese authorities, who will coordinate with the NTSB representative as necessary.
