During landing, a tailwheel airplane bounced three times, veered left off the runway, and nosed over after the nosewheel impacted a sandbar. The empennage sustained substantial damage.

Accident Description

The pilot of a tailwheel-equipped airplane reported that during the landing roll, the airplane bounced. On the third bounce, it veered off the runway to the left. The nosewheel then impacted a sandbar, causing the airplane to nosed over.
