Incident
On 21 May 2024, Singapore Airlines Flight 321, a scheduled international passenger flight from London Heathrow Airport to Changi Airport in Singapore, encountered severe turbulence while flying over the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar. The aircraft involved was a Boeing 777 carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members.
Aftermath
The turbulence resulted in the death of one passenger and left 79 others injured. In response to the emergency, the flight crew diverted the aircraft to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, where medical personnel and emergency services were prepared to assist the injured.
