Introduction
On 24 July 2024, a Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft operated by Saurya Airlines crashed shortly after departing from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. The accident resulted in 18 fatalities among the 19 occupants on board.
Flight Details
The aircraft was conducting a ferry flight to Pokhara for a maintenance check. It carried three crew members and sixteen passengers, most of whom were Saurya Airlines employees.
Accident Sequence
During the takeoff roll, the aircraft experienced rapid rolling motions to the left and right before losing altitude. The right wing struck the ground beside the runway. The impact and subsequent post-crash fire destroyed the aircraft.
Survivor
The captain was the sole survivor of the crash.
