What happened

While landing on runway 17, the pilot experienced a rightward drift from the runway centerline during the landing rollout. Despite applying left rudder input, the pilot was unable to correct the drift, causing the aircraft to exit the runway on the right side. The main landing gear subsequently sank into soft turf, which caused the airplane to nose over. The pilot and passenger were not injured.

The investigation

An examination of the aircraft's rudder control system following the accident revealed that the left rudder cable was fractured. The fractured cable and a related pulley were removed and sent to the NTSB materials laboratory for further testing.
