What happened
On August 5, 2025, at approximately 08:20 EDT, a Cessna 172N, registration N1213F, was involved in an accident near Pembroke Pines, Florida. The aircraft was being operated by FLIGHT ANSWERS LLC as a Part 91 instructional flight for the purpose of performing private pilot maneuvers.
While flying at 1,800 feet mean sea level, the engine began experiencing severe vibrations. The student pilot transferred control of the aircraft to the flight instructor. During efforts to address the engine issue, the instructor felt an impact against the engine firewall, followed by a total loss of engine power.
The flight instructor declared an emergency with air/control and executed a forced landing onto a dirt road. During the landing roll, the aircraft veered off the left side of the road, struck the terrain, and came to a stop in a nearby marsh. There were no injuries to the flight instructor or the student pilot.
The investigation
An inspection conducted by a Federal Aviation Administration inspector determined that the aircraft sustained substantial damage. The damage included the fuselage and both wings. Additionally, the engine's crankcase was found to be breached.
