What happened

On August 27, 2025, at approximately 19:04 CDT, a Cessna 172H, registration N8078L, was involved in an accident near Goliad, Texas. The aircraft was being operated under 14 CFR Part 91 for personal use.

During the initial climb, when the aircraft reached approximately 300 feet above ground level, the engine experienced a loss of partial power. The pilot attempted to restore power by adjusting the throttle but was unable to do so. Consequently, the pilot performed a forced landing onto a road. During the aircraft's rollout, the right wing collided with a light pole, causing substantial damage to the right wing and the right aileron. The pilot was not injured.

Prior to the flight, the pilot performed a preflight inspection that revealed no anomalies. The aircraft was carrying approximately 10 gallons of 100LL aviation fuel in each wing tank, and the fuel selector was set to the BOTH position at the time of the power loss.
