What happened
On January 16, 2026, a Honda HA-420, registration N949LL, was involved in an accident near Amarillo, Texas. The flight was being operated by RCN Aviation, LLC, under Part 91 regulations as a personal flight.
Approximately 1.5 hours into the cruise phase of the flight, the pilot observed a yellow Crew Alerting System (CAS) message indicating an issue with the air data computer. Roughly 15 minutes later, a second yellow CAS message appeared, indicating low hydraulic system pressure. In response to these alerts, the pilot diverted the aircraft to Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.
Following the landing, the aircraft experienced a loss of brake pressure while taxiing. The pilot attempted to engage the parking brake, but this caused the brakes to lock up. Upon releasing the parking brake, the aircraft lost all steering and braking capability. During the subsequent loss of control, the left wing of the aircraft struck a parked deice truck. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the left wing. The pilot and four passengers were not injured.
