What happened
On the morning of an unspecified date in 2012, a Cessna 208B, registered as C-GAGP, departed from Runway 21 at the Snow Lake aerodrome. The aircraft, operated by Gogal Air Services Limited, was carrying a pilot and seven passengers toward Winnipeg, Manitoba. Shortly after the takeoff sequence began, the aircraft lost altitude and crashed into a wooded area located roughly 0.9 nautical miles past the end of the runway. The impact destroyed the aircraft and ignited a small fire near the engine. The pilot sustained fatal injuries, while the seven passengers suffered serious injuries. Following the crash, the aircraft's emergency locator transmitter was activated, and emergency responders arrived to transport the survivors to local hospitals.
The investigation
Investigators examined the wreckage and the circumstances surrounding the flight. The investigation established that the aircraft's fuel cells ruptured during the impact, leading to a fuel spill at the crash site. The analysis focused on the environmental conditions and the weight of the aircraft at the time of departure.
