What happened
On 17 December 2021, a Beechcraft King Air BE20, operated by Keewatin Air, was performing a scheduled flight from Winnipeg, MB (CYWG) to Sanikiluaq, NU (CYSK). The flight, identified as KEW204, was carrying two crew members and two passengers at the time of the incident.
During the arrival phase at Sanikiluaq, the aircraft was executing a missed approach on Runway 29. During this maneuver, the aircraft drifted from its intended flight path while still on the ground, eventually exiting the side of the runway.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the sequence of events leading to the aircraft's departure from the paved surface during the missed approach procedure. The assessment confirmed that the aircraft's movement resulted in substantial damage to the Beechcraft King Air BE20. Regarding the occupants, the investigation established that one passenger suffered minor injuries during the excursion.
