What happened
On a flight near Camrose, Alberta, an Air Tractor AT-502B was performing agricultural application duties. The aircraft, operated by Arty's Air Service Ltd., was flying approximately 29 nautical miles south-southeast of Camrose when it struck the ground during an application pass. The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Following the impact, no fire occurred, and the aircraft's emergency locator transmitter (ELT) functioned as intended by transmitting a signal.
The investigation
The TSB conducted a Class 4 investigation into the accident. The scope of this investigation was limited to the circumstances surrounding the impact with the terrain at the Bawlf (Blackwells) Aerodrome area.
