What happened
Following the delivery of a MiG-31 to the Voronezh Military Aviation Engineering University, the crew began a flight back to their home base at Tver-Migalovo. While the MiG-31 was operating in a cruising flight phase, the aircraft experienced an uncontrolled descent. The plane impacted a snow-covered prairie in the vicinity of Krasny Oktyabr.
Upon impact, the aircraft was completely destroyed. There were no survivors among the 12 fatalities recorded in the incident.
