What happened
On the day of the accident, an Antonov An-22 aircraft, known as 'Vasiliy Semenenko', departed from Ivanovo-Severny Air Base. The flight was being conducted as a test flight following recent maintenance work. The aircraft was carrying a total of eight people, consisting of five crew members and three engineers.
Shortly after taking off from runway 28, the aircraft became uncontrollable. During the flight, the plane experienced an in-flight breakup. The wreckage subsequently crashed into the Uvod'skoye Reservoir, located approximately 15 km northwest of the Ivanovo-Severny Air Base, near the village of Ivankovo. The accident resulted in eight fatalities, with no survivors reported among the occupants.
