What happened
During the initial takeoff phase, the aircraft was accelerating along the runway and reached a speed of 170 km/h. At this velocity, the aircraft began to drift toward the right side of the runway. The deviation continued until the plane struck a nearby snow bank.
Following the impact with the snow, the aircraft underwent a cartwheel motion before finally coming to a stop. Despite the severity of the excursion, all 53 occupants were able to exit the aircraft without injury. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
- The aircraft veered right during the takeoff roll.
- Collision with a snow bank caused the subsequent cartwheeling motion.
