What happened
While operating in the Bulman region, the aircraft encountered intense convective activity stemming from a rapidly developing thunderstorm. This weather system subjected the aircraft to significant turbulence and a marked reduction in visibility. During this period of severe weather, the aircraft experienced excessive structural loading, which resulted in the in-flight separation of the right wing from the fuselage. Following this structural failure, the aircraft collided with the terrain.
The investigation
Investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the encounter with the thunderstorm. The analysis focused on the interaction between the atmospheric conditions and the aircraft's flight parameters. The investigation looked into how the combination of environmental turbulence, the aircraft's airspeed relative to its manoeuvring speed, and specific control inputs contributed to the structural failure of the airframe.
