What happened
During an approach to Caen-Carpielquet Airport under adverse weather conditions, the flight crew attempted to execute a go-around. As the captain increased engine thrust to climb, the co-pilot incorrectly adjusted the flap settings by raising them. This error led to a sudden loss of lift, causing the aircraft to stall.
The aircraft subsequently impacted the runway surface. The force of the collision caused the undercarriage to be ripped from the airframe. Following the impact, the plane slid for several dozen meters across the airfield before coming to a complete stop.
There were zero fatalities and zero injuries reported among the three people on board. However, the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
- The primary factor in the accident was a pilot error involving the incorrect configuration of the flaps during the go-around maneuver, which induced a stall.
