What happened
On the night of the accident, a Beechcraft was performing an instrument flight rules (IFR) operation traveling from Val-d’Or toward Chicoutimi/Saint-Honoré, Quebec. The flight was carrying a total of four people, consisting of two pilots and two passengers. At 22:40 Eastern Standard Time, the flight crew transitioned to the aerodrome traffic frequency after receiving clearance for an RNAV (GNSS) approach to Runway 12.
Ten minutes later, at 22:50, an emergency locator transmitter signal was identified by the International satellite system for search and rescue. Following this alert, the aircraft was located at 02:24 in a forested region. The wreckage was situated roughly 3 nautical miles from the Runway 12 threshold, positioned along the approach centerline. Emergency responders reached the site at 04:15.
Findings
The impact of the crash resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft, though no fire occurred following the event. The accident resulted in two fatalities among the crew members, while the two passengers sustained serious injuries.
