What happened

Shortly after departing from Puerto Plata-Gregorio Luperón Airport, the aircraft experienced mechanical difficulties. Approximately fifteen minutes into the flight, the pilot contacted air traffic control to report a malfunction involving the right engine. Following this communication, the aircraft was granted permission to perform an emergency return to the departure airport.

During the attempt to return, the aircraft suffered a significant loss of airspeed and altitude. The plane subsequently impacted a forested region situated near Moca. The impact resulted in a post-crash fire that consumed the wreckage. There were four fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft.
